• Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage (SNS / SS /LK / KAN
/ 296):
Started in 1975 to house the abandoned and the wounded, the
orphanage has grown to be a big family today. A unique experience
never to be missed.
• Kandy-City Tour (SNS / SS /LK / KAN / 298):
Afternoon commence city tour of Kandy, including Upper Lake
Drive, Market Square and the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic.
* Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic - ever since 4th Century
A.D, when the Buddha’s Tooth was brought to Sri Lanka hidden
from sacrilegious hands in an Orissan princess hair, the Relic
has grown in repute and holiness in Sri Lanka and throughout
the Buddhist world. It is considered Sri Lankas most prized
possession.
Evening view a cultural show featuring various dance types
of Sri Lanka
• Royal Botanical Gardens (SNS / SS /LK / KAN / 292):
After breakfast visit * Royal Botanical Gardens, Peradeniya,
Sixty Seven hectares of exquisite beauty and botanical treasurers
containing more than 4000 species, this is haven not only
for Scientists but to every nature lover as well.
• Excursion to Nuwara Eliya (SNS / SS /LK / NUW /
293):
* Hakgala Botanical Gardens - Four miles south east of Nuwara
Eliya is another prominent peak, Hakgala. At its foot lie
the Hakgala Botanical Gardens, and beyond, the Hakgala Strict
Natural Reserve. The gardens are smaller and less exotic than
those at Peradeniya, but at 5,600 feet (1,707 meters) elevation
the species of flora quite different. Opened as an experimental
cinchona plantation (for production of the malaria antidote
quinine) in 1860, the pride of the gardens is now roses and
ferns. Seethaeliya – the little Kovil dedicated to Seetha
with with statue of Rama, Lakshmana and Hanuman
• City tour of Colombo (SNS / SS /SL / COL / 295):
Colombo a drive through the city taking you to the busy commercial
areas as well as the tree-lined residential, Cinnamon Gardens.
Visit Fort, the former British administrative center and military
garrison, Sea Street - the Goldsmiths quarters in the heart
of Pettah, the Bazaar area, where is also a Hindu Temple with
elaborate stone carvings, and the Dutch Church of Wolfendhal
dating back to 1749. The historic Dawatagaha Mosque and the
former Eye Hospital are two buildings in Cinnamon Gardens
worth looking at. Also visit the BMICH, see the replica of
Avukana Buddha and the Independence Square. Thereafter transfer
to Katunayake.
Kandy - the hill capital. Venue of the annual Perahera. The
last stronghold of the Sinhala Kings was finally ceded to
the British in 1815. Kandy is an example of the Buddhism’s
influence in Sri Lanka today. Temple’s shrines and monasteries
keeping alive Buddhist traditions are everywhere.
Nuwara Eliya - The ‘Little England’ of Sri Lanka, is set against
beautiful backdrops of Mountains, Valleys, Waterfalls and
Tea Plantations. It is supposed to be one of the coldest places
on the island, but is really just like an England spring day
although the temperature does drop at night.
All around Nuwara Eliya you will see evidence of the British
influence. Houses are like country cottages or Queen Ann style
mansions.
• Bangkok City Tour & Temple Tour (SNS / SS /TH
/ BKK / 6):
Cruise around the city and visit the three main temples in
Bangkok. Visit the Golden Buddha, made out of solid pure gold
and weighing two and a half ton. Visit the Reclining Buddha,
46 Mts. in length and 15.5 feet in height, unlike the Golden
Buddha; the Reclining Buddha is gold plated and hollow from
inside. And lastly visit the Marble temple, made out of Pure
Italian Marble and a sight to behold.
• (Optional) Safari world and Marine park (SNS / SS
/TH / BKK / 7):
This is Thailands greatest and most popular open zoo and Show
Park. Covering over 200 acres, Safari World is made up of
Safari Park and Marine Park and offers a variety of fun and
entertainment for visitors of all ages. Whether it is an exciting
safari drive through a picturesque African wilderness setting,
an intimate encounter with the friendly dolphins or an exhilarating
fast paced action stunt spectacular, Safari World has it all.
• (Optional) Noong Nooch Village (SNS / SS /TH / PYX
/ 10):
Here one can see a Thai cultural show, a multitude of talented
artists perform traditional Thai dances, culture, religious
ceremonies and other Thai traditions and later see and take
part in the spectacular Elephant Show.
• Coral Island (SNS / SS /TH / PYX / 9):
Transfer to the jetty for a leisurely cruise by launch to
the Coral Island from where you can travel in a glass bottomed
boat through which you can see the beautiful and colourful
corals on the seabed. At the coral island one can enjoy a
number of water sports activities like para sailing, water
scooter, etc.
